The International Guest House is a warm and inviting home away from home, located 4 1/2 miles north of the White House in the quiet, residential 16th Street Heights neighborhood of Washington, D.C.
Within a block of two separate bus lines, public transportation is easily accessible from the Guest House. From there the White House, National Mall, and Smithsonian Museums are all just a bus trip away! Being situated between 14th and 16th street, also provides a quick, direct route towards downtown by car or taxi.
The International Guest House is a non-profit house owned and maintained by the Allegheny Conference of Mennonite Church USA. It exists to show the love of Christ through the ministry of hospitality to guests from all over the world. The mission includes the following:
1. To provide hospitality to the stranger as Christ suggests we do in Matthew 25:35, “I was a stranger and you took me in. . ”
2. To provide our guests with secure, clean, short-term lodging; to provide a warm welcome, friendship, and to show what it means to be Christian in the Mennonite tradition.
3. To provide guests the opportunity to gather and engage in friendly, cultural and religious conversation at the breakfast table and evening tea.
4. To provide service opportunities for Mennonite and other volunteers who are committed to the mission of Christian hospitality that is IGH.
